Transform Your Limited Ways of Being to Change Your Life
When it comes to creating a change in our lives, I believe it's generally simple.
We must stop thinking and behaving in ways that have kept us in the same limiting patterns and begin to think and behave in ways that are more in alignment with the new life we desire.
In other words, we need to get clear on who we no longer want to be and get clear on who we do want to be.
So, ask yourself...
-
How do I want to stop thinking, acting, and feeling? (the old you...)
-
How do I want to think, act, and feel? (the new you...)
Now, if taking a moment to get clear on who we no longer want to be (the old you) and who we do want to be (the new you) is so simple, why is the process of change so hard? Why isn't everyone doing it?
Great questionā€¦
In the simplest terms, to me, this has to do with the habits we've built around a specific ways of thinking, acting, and feeling.
Just like you've programmed yourself into the habit of driving without needing to think about it, you've also programmed yourself to think, act, and feel in certain ways that you no longer need to make an effort to do ā€” it's just who you are.
There's nothing wrong with this, it's just a recognition that if you want to change any aspect of you, then you're going to have to consistently catch yourself being the old you on a moment to moment basis.
As you catch yourself, you must shift immediately into new ways of thinking in order to break the habit of who you've programmed yourself to be.
Doing this means you have to become conscious to the parts of you that have been on autopilot.
Similar to creating a new habit such as eating better foods or exercising more, creating a new habit as it relates to how we think, act, and feel is no different.
It's going to take time, effort, and repetition to become someone new. And, most importantly, based on my experience, it's going to take patience.
All that said, I want you to know that you truly can become anyone and anything you'd like to become, but you're going to have to recreate yourself and start to think, feel, and act in new ways that are aligned with that new version of you.
All it takes to become someone new is knowing that it's possible, having clarity, will, and consistency in your efforts.
Remember, the process of change is simple, but it's not easy. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.
If you want an extraordinary quality of life, it's only going to happen through extraordinary levels of commitment and ongoing effort to achieve it. It's why most people don't do it...
Most people prefer comfort, stability, and ease. Nothing wrong with that, it's a choice we all make.
But if you're reading this, then I have a feeling that you know deep in your heart that you are destined for more ā€” and you are.
No more settling for anything less than you can be.
With love and inspiration,
Jonathan
